11 AM – 6 PM

Various locations

The Miami University Sales Competition is a day-long event hosted by the Pi Sigma Epsilon Gamma Gamma Chapter at Miami University. The competition is dedicated to exposing inexperienced students to the sales competition environment. Participants will get the opportunity to build trust, ask the right questions, identify the core problem, and pitch their solution through a cold calling experience all within the time constraint of 10 minutes! Whether you sign up for the experience, coaching, the prizes, or just the free snacks, everyone will benefit from the Miami University Sales Competition!

At the close of the competition, Pi Sigma Epsilon will be awarding prizes to the top participants as determined by a panel of judges consisting of industry and academic experts.

A few additional notes:

Only the kickoff and your 10-minute competition time slot are mandatory to compete and accommodations can be made.

We will provide food during the networking and awards portion after the competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

▼ I want to participate, but I have to go to class. Can I do both?

Of course! For those attending class, the only mandatory times to be at the competition are from 11:00-12:00 PM and during your 15-minute competition slot sometime between 12:00-5:00 PM. We’ll do our best to be flexible with your schedule!

▼ How does the sales competition work?

Prior to competition day, you will receive and be walked through the case by the organizers of the competition. Then, on the day of the competition, when it is your time to compete, you, and a panel of judges will enter a room to conduct your cold calling case and, hopefully, close a sale.

▼ What should I do to prepare?

Best practices would include looking over the selling case, using trusted online resources, and participating in the workshop put on by PSE prior to the competition. We are updating the competition resources, and will notify you once it is ready!

▼ How much does it cost?

The sales competition is free of charge to all competitors thanks to our generous corporate sponsors Cintas, BBI Logistics, PepsiCo and Nucor!

▼ How is the competition judged?

The competition will be judged by representatives of our corporate sponsors as well as Miami Farmer School of Business faculty and PSE leadership.

▼ Do I need to be a business major or have relevant experience to participate?

No, you do not need to be a business major to participate. We encourage all students, regardless of major or experience to compete! This is an incredible opportunity to build new skills, network, and gain great experience, which you can then put on your resume.

▼ Why should I care about sales skills?

Sales skills, which include communication, active listening, asking questions, and building rapport, are great skills to have and leverage in the professional world, regardless of industry or type of work.
