What it means to BE PSE - From Our New Members!

By Claire Fink

Every semester, we bring in an incredible group of new additions to our chapter. We asked a few members about their new member process so far and are also highlighting two very crucial people in this recruitment process.

When talking to new member Macy Morrison, she tells us, “My favorite part about being in PSE so far is the people I have met.”(-Macy Morrison)  If you asked any single person in this chapter, I guarantee you they would say the same. Macy also mentioned some of her goals she has for the rest of her experience in PSE, “One goal I have moving forward within PSE is to hold a leadership position my Junior Year. PSE is already helping me build confidence and I know this will help me in running for a position in the near future.”(-Macy Morrison) To truly Be PSE, is to motivate, to empower, and to make our members feel the way Macy does.

Our second new member highlight is Sam Adler! He mentions how his favorite parts of PSE so far have been about the bonding experiences within the new member class. “Getting to know each other more and getting more comfortable with each other is not only a fun experience, but it is also beneficial moving forward with growing our brotherhood.” (-Sam Adler) He also gave an insight into how his new member project is going, “Working with my team members and coming up with a marketing solution for a prominent client in the entertainment industry has been a great experience and I am really looking forward to the final presentations.” (-Sam Adler) The new member project is classified as something that truly bonds our chapter together. It is the first real exposure to teamwork. We are wishing all of the new members good luck as they dive into this process and we are confident that each team will come up with unique and viable solutions.

Enough said, to be PSE means all of these things and more. During recruitment this year, we were able to gauge creativity, determination, professionalism, and work ethic with the leadership of our Recruitment Chair, Trevor Minyo! “Recruitment has been one of my favorite parts of PSE. There’s so much that happens on the back end to make the recruitment process smooth for the rest of the chapter, and for the PNMs. The recruitment committee and I put in a lot of work before the semester even starts so we can hit the ground running. After that, the fun starts! Seeing all the PNMs interact with chapter members is a gratifying feeling. It’s also a lot of fun to get to know the PNMs and watch them find their place in the chapter.”

When it comes to all things new member related, Ashley Hess is our go to. She manages to act as not only a role model to our new members, but she guides them into understanding what our chapter is truly about. “Just like my new members last semester, I have loved getting to know the Fall ‘22 member class members and watching them grow. They are all eager to get involved and are such a great group of individuals. They are the future leaders of this chapter!” (-Ashley Hess) Our new members have been working tirelessly on their New Member projects, and Ashley is there for them every step of the way.

We cannot “Be PSE” without the new members we bring in every semester, and we most certainly cannot do it without the great leadership force we have either.
