A Semester to Remember: Spring 2022 Recap

A Semester to Remember

Spring 2022 Recap

By: Sarah Holman

Another semester has come and gone and it’s time to put finals past us and focus on summer! This has been an incredible school year for Gamma Gamma and just this semester alone we accomplished so much. Take a deeper look at what we’ve been up to for the past few months!

Professional Development

Weekly GBM’s will definitely be missed this summer! The Chapter was so lucky to have so many guest speakers this semester. From learning about finance with PNC to aviation sales with Textron, there were topics that could interest everyone. GBM’s this semester also consisted of DE&I workshops and workshops that sparked conversations that enabled members to get to know each other on a deeper level. GBM’s also helped prepare members for our post-career fair event which took place this spring. This was an exclusive opportunity for members to interact with recruiters on a more personal level after Miami’s spring career fair. Some of the companies we hosted were E&J Gallo, Ferguson, Medix, and DHL. GBM is a guaranteed time we can all be together as a chapter and improve ourselves professionally and personally. Speaking of developing personally, we were able to reach over 250 service hours through 20 different service opportunities!

Another exciting opportunity for professional development this semester was Nationals! Around 40 of our members traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Pi Sigma Epsilon’s National Convention. We competed in 10 different categories including the Lewis F. Gordon Top Gold Chapter award where we took home second place! In addition, we were also awarded Top Professional Development Program and Top Salesperson. We also got to engage with members from other chapters, hear from amazing speakers, and explore a new city with each other.

Projects

The Marketing team was able to bring in various projects this semester that engaged several members. With returning projects like Oxbox, to new opportunities like BFast members were able to work together to provide creative solutions to local, and outside businesses. By participating in projects, members were able to build strong relationships with clients and become closer with other brothers.

The new member project was also a huge success this semester! By working with the Jeff Hanson Foundation new members were able to gain experience working with a non-profit organization and learn critical skills like market research, design thinking, and slide design. All groups were able to present to the Jeff Hanson Foundation and blew the Hanson family away with their creative ideas and solutions.

Brotherhood

With every semester our bond as a chapter continues to grow. New relationships are made every semester and friendships are formed that last a lifetime. This semester GG was able to bring in 32 new members and pair them each with a mentor to guide them through their first semester in the chapter. We hosted fun events like ice skating, a DE&I potluck where members brought a dish that represented their culture, and even a spring break vacation to Florida. All these opportunities allowed brothers to become closer and more involved in the chapter.

Something unique about Gamma Gamma is this bond we call brotherhood. It means so much more than friendship. It’s the ability to look out for one another, do anything for each other, and expect nothing in return. It’s the excitement every single Monday at GBM when you see your friends you just saw that weekend. It’s aligning schedules so you can take classes with each other. It’s getting to Farmer early just so you can sit with each other at the carper square. It’s signing on a house freshman year so you can live together. Because of this tight bond, saying goodbye to the seniors is never easy. Although this group will be missed tremendously we are so excited to see all they accomplish after college. To the class of 2022: brotherhood is forever, it’s not a goodbye it’s a see you later.

And that’s a wrap! Enjoy your summer and see you in the fall GG!
